Finishing. - A boot-finishing iron A has a chamber B to receive a detachable electric heating - element, and, behind the chamber, a recess C containing an insulating - block carrying conducting plates E, to which the terminals of the heater are connected at e<1> and the supply - wires at e. The heating-element is preferably in the form of a cartridge cased in thin metal, and may be screwed into the chamber B as shown, or may be pushed into it, in which case the cartridge h a s a loop or projection to enable it to be withdrawn. A cover F fits over the recess C.
