Abstract
22,169. MacDonald, W. B., and Thomson, W. T. Sept. 24. Cutting cylinders &c. transversely to their length.-A machine for cutting-up rolls of bandages &c. into sections comprises a magazine consisting of a circular table 8, disk 43, and a lower table 10, all perforated to receive the rolls a, and rotated on a shaft 7 to feed the rolls to a rotary cutter 17, which works between the two tables 10, 8. The lower end of the rolls rest on a plate 14, which is adapted to be adjusted vertically by a pivoted hand-lever device 22 to vary the thickness cut. The plate 14 is cut away in the vicinity of the cutter 17 to facilitate the discharge of the severed sections, and the rolls are clamped as they travel over this gap by spring - controlled pins 45, Fig. 3, actuated by a cam-plate 47. The magazine and cutter are both driven from a single shaft, and a hand - operated friction clutch may be employed to control the rotation of the magazine.
