Abstract

A cutting machine for cutting out end discs for paper rolls from a stack of sheets of paper or cardboard is described. According to the invention, the cutting machine has a rotating table 2 for receiving the stack of sheets; a press plate 11 co-rotating with the table is arranged to clamp the stack of sheets securely between itself and the table 2, and the size of the press plate 11 is such that it is situated within the periphery of the end discs which are to be cut out; and a feed unit which has a blade-like steel cutter 21 and which is arranged to move the cutter 21 in a controlled manner from above down through the stack of sheets during the rotational movement of the latter, so that the cutter cuts through only a limited number of sheets for each turn executed by the stack of sheets. <IMAGE>
