Abstract

19,614. Hall, W., and Illius, D. W. Aug. 22. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.- The crank casing of an internal-combustion engine is supplied with oil by a wheel b mounted on the crank-shaft and enclosed in a chamber f. The edge of the wheel is formed with pockets c, which pick up oil from a reservoir d, and deliver it to one or more channels h leading to the compartments of the crank casing. The oil returns to the reservoir d by an overflow i. In a modification, the pockets c and channels h are designed to supply oil by rotation of the wheel b in either direction.
