Abstract

17,986. Smith, H. E., and Fairbrother, G. T. July 28. Carburetting.- An air-gas plant is controlled by regulating the supply of water to a boiler which supplies steam to a steam-engine driving the apparatus. Water is supplied by a pipe 8 and valve 9 to a boiler 6, preferably of the instantaneous type heated by a burner 7 supplied with gas by a pipe 10 and valve 11, and provided with a by-pass. The steam generated passes by a pipe 13 to a tnrbine or other engine driving the air-compressor and petrol feed of the plant. The valves 9, 11 are connected to a lever 5, which is moved by the gas-holder or governor or other part of the plant in accordance with the consumption of gas. The valve IT is arranged to be opened before the valve 9, and to remain open until the valve 9 is closed.
