Abstract

Furnace fronts; liquid-fuel fittings.-Relates to improved means for adapting a forced-draught furnace to burn either coal alone or oil alone, or both coal and oil. An oil burner 9 above the coal-firing entrance is supplied with air through a separate opening 10 under the control of a valve 11 separate from the valve or valves 6 which regulate the supply of air for coal-firing through openings on each side of the firing entrance. The oil burner is fitted in an air controlling and guiding chamber 8. The supply of oil to the burner is controlled by means, such as the cock 12, operatively connected with the firedoor-locking apparatus 5 so that the supply of oil must be cut off before the door can be opened. The air valves for coal firing are connected together for simultaneous movement by the rod 7. Air is supplied to the ash-pit through the. valves 2. Specification 12554/99 is referred to.
