Abstract

Fluid-actuated fuel valves for steam-generators.-For regulating the supply of oil fuel to steam - generators, a float is arranged to control a fluid-pressure device which operates a spring-loaded valve, so connected to the oil-pump discharge pipe that when open it diverts the supply of oil from the burners. The float chamber B, Fig. 2, is connected by pipes b<1>, b<2> with the steam and water spaces of the boiler, respectively, and the float is guided by stems c<1>, c<2>, the upper of which forms a valve F controlling the passage of steam from the pipe b<5> to the pipe f<2>. When the level of the water in the boiler falls to the danger limit, the valve F is opened, steam is admitted through the pipe f<2> to the cylinder K Fig. 3, and the piston k<1> operates, through the lever R, an equilibrium valve h<1>, h<2> against the pressure of an adustable spring S. The valves h<1>, h<2> controls a by-pass connexion between the fuel-delivery pipe for the burners and the suction pipe of the fuel pump.
