Circular-flow type. - Turbines, pumps, and compressors of the repeated - impact type, in which the working fluid is admitted to the wheel in an axial direction, are provided with blades subdivided by transverse webs into a number of concentric sections, the working fluid being admitted to an increasing number of sections upon each admission. Ribs C, D, E divide the blades into a number of concentric sections G, H, J. The working fluid is admitted to the section G by the passage L, and is conducted by the radially-expanding return-passage M, N to the sections G, H, and again by the return passage 0, P to the sections G, H, J, and so on.
