15,412. Trier, W. A. June 27. Band; blocks and the like acting on drums.-A motor-car brake is arranged so that it can be operated by two independent means, such as a pedal and a hand-lever. For this purpose, semi-circular brake shoes or bands a, b are expanded by either of two cams c into contact with the brake drum, the cams being operated independently by hand and foot. Each cam may have only one working face e acting on one of the shoes ; or it may have two working faces, one for each brake shoe. Two semicircular bands embracing a brake drum externally may be similarly provided with two independent operating-devices between their ends.
