Axles.-In a coupling for a divided or differential railway-vehicle axle, the part-axle 1 is journaled in a sleeve 10, which is pressed into a second sleeve 5 pressed upon the part-axle 2. A retaining-collar 16 is riveted upon the partaxle 1 and has a bearing upon Babbitt-metal 32 which fills rifle grooves 31 formed in the sleeve 5. End thrust of the collar 16 is taken by lubricating-rings 17 formed of pedestals 18 of graphite embedded in Babbitt-metal. Similar rings 21 form bearings for the part-axle 1 in the sleeve 10. The system of lubricating-passages comprises radial passages 26 closed by plugs and steel cement 27 and communicating with annular grooves 24, 14 in the outer sleeve. The groove 24 communicates by channels 30 with a third annular groove 12. Lubrication of the journal of the part-axle 1 is effected by radial passages 23 communicating with the grooves 24 and with rifle grooves 22 in the sleeve 10.
