Abstract

10,822. Lachman, M. April 30, 1909, [Convention date]. Disk wheels.-Relates to wheels of the kind in which the spokes and hub are formed from a metal blank which is split into strips bent outwards from the hub to serve as spokes. The invention consists principally in welding the spokes to the rim to form an integral wheel. The wheel centre is in two parts each formed from a blank, split as shown in Fig. 3. The blank is folded to form a cylinder and the split members a<10> bent to form spokes, Fig. 2. Each spoke beyond a short distance from the hub a<6> is stamped so as to be curved in section, and its end is welded to a loop a<12> pressed inwards from the rim. The hub members a<6> are enclosed within a sleeve a<2>, and the flat inner ends of the spokes are embraced by a pair of collars b', c formed with recesses in their flanged edges to engage the spokes, and with annular sinkings c<4> to facilitate the fixing of the parts, which are welded together.
