5784. Clarkson, T., and Morison, W. J. March 7. Disk wheels. - Metal wheels for road vehicles are made entirely of forged metal, tubular spokes B being buttwelded, preferably electrically, to radial bosses formed on a forged hub, and the outer ends of the spokes being formed or provided with flanges to which flanged members C are welded forming a star-wheel. The flanges of this star-wheel are then machined and a rim D, which may be formed in two parts with flanges D'is shrunk on and secured by bolts. The hub bosses may be drilled out and the rims may have different shapes, two of which are shown.
