Abstract

139,852. Barham, F. A., & Smith Parfrey & Co. Jan. 27, 1919. Disk wheels ; compression-spoke wheels. - Metal wheels comprise spokes made from lengths of flat bar 1 welded to the rim at their outer ends and bent over at their inner ends as shown at 2 and abutted together to form a solid centre in the manner of an artillery wheel. The alternate spokes are disposed on opposite sides of the central plane of the wheel. In a modification, the spokes may be made in two parts, the outer part comprising a rim section and a short radial part which is welded to the main part of the spoke on the line B-B. The rim sections are welded together at their ends A, A to form the complete rim.
