Moving-chamber apparatus; varying quantity measured. - Relates to sausage or like filling machines in which means are provided for filling predetermined quantities of meat into the skins Between the filling-chamber i, Fig. 3, and the nozzle m, a measuring-device is provided consisting of two cylinders a having plungers c connected to one another by rods i. A fourway cock enables the meat to be forced into either of the cylinders through the passage o while the passage p simultaneously puts the other cylinder in communication with the nozzle m. The plug may be reversed at the end of each stroke by hand or automatically. The travel of the pistons, and hence the quantity of meat delivered at each reciprocation, is regulated by adjusting the distance between them by means of the screw e and hand-wheel y. The device may be put out of action by placing the plug in the central position with the passage s in line with the passages from the filling chamber and nozzle.
