9537. King, H. J. H. April 20. Clutches, f r i c - tion. - Relates to centrifugalsegment friction clutches, automatically tightened in the event of slip taking place. A sleeve H is secured to the driving-shaft I and carries rollers G bearing on segments B, which are adjustably connected by springs F and are pivoted on a disk loose on the shaft. Under the action of centrifugal force, the segments B engage the driven shell A, and in the event of slip, the rollers G bear against the inclined under surfaces of the segments and tighten the clutch. For drive in both directions, two oppositely - acting clutches are employed.
