5750. Wort, W. E. March 8. Cup-leather packing.-A packing-device for railway axle - boxes &c. comprises two leather rings H, L secured to a metal ring A, which has an inner flange B and an outer flange C bent radially at D. The flanged leather ring H, secured to the flange B, bears against the axle J and one wall of the recess E, and the ring L, secured to the flange C, bears against the opposite wall M of the recess. The leather rings are secured by tongues N struck up from the metal of the ring A.
