Abstract

3338. Boult, A. J., [Leeson, J. R.]. Feb. 10. Yarns, warping a n d beaming.- Two - speed gearing, suitable for warping or beaming machines, comprises a belt pulley &c. 20 secured to a shaft 2, which is to be driven, and a pulley 15 loose thereon and able to be connected thereto by epicyclic reducing- gearing, which is disconnected when the e high - speed drive comes into action. A spindle 37, carried by the pulley 20, is keyed at one end to a wheel 41 meshing with a wheel 16 secured to the boss of the pulley 15. A pinion 40 secured to the other end of the spindle 37 meshes with an internallytoothed ring 30, which is supported on a boss 23 loose on the shaft 2. A projecting arm 26 keeps the boss 23 from turning, and ratchetclutch rollers 31 between the boss 23 and ring 30 prevent the ring 30 from turning backwards. When the belt is on the pulley 15, the pinions 40 run on the ring 30 as fulcrum, and the pulley 20,is driven at reduced speed. When the belt is shifted to the pulley 20, the shaft 2 is driven . directly, and the gearing becomes disconnected by the ring 30 slipping forward. The pulley 12 is an ordinary loose pulley.
