2294. Kress, W. Feb. 23, 1909, [Convention date]. Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement of; steering; propelling.-The fixed supporting-planes n of the aerial machine are arranged stepwise, and the propellers bare mounted so as to be adjustable to act either for lifting or propelling. The spindles a, Fig. 2, of the propellers are mounted in ball bearings c in the ends of forks d, which are carried by hollow shafts e surrounding the driving-shaft m. The shafts e are connected by a bow, to which is attached a rod connecting the shafts e of the front and rear pairs of screws. The forward shaft e is provided with a toothed sector k adjusted by a hand-wheel l. The shafts mare driven through the bevel wheels g, h from a shaft r geared to the motor. The machine is provided with a rear elevator p and rudder q operated by a common lever.
