Abstract

1191. Rouse, F. L. Jan. 17. Heels.-A detachable heel is secured to the shoe by means of a metal plate 1, Fig. 4, on the sole, having a lug 5 and two forked lugs 4 to engage with a wire attaching - member 11, Fig. 5, arranged in the heel. The heel has a recess 8 to receive the plate, and recesses 9, 10 into which the lugs enter. The wire 11 crosses the recesses and has its ends coiled at 13 to obtain a firmer bearing in the heel. The metal plate is first engaged with the heel and then temporarily attached by means of marking points 6, which hold the plate in position when the heel is detached so that it can be secured by screws through the screw holes 3. When the heel is formed of rubber &c., the device 11 is moulded therein.
