Abstract

30,510. Gebauer, J. H. C. Dec. 30. Coating-compositions; backings.-Artificialsilk composed of collodion and caoutchouc is rendered durable, elastic, and resistant to moisture by treating it in filament or fabric form with a solution of albumen, and then heating to vulcanize the caoutchouc and coagulate the albumen. The caoutchouc may be added to the collodion before or after spinning, and may contain sulphur &c. for vulcanizing purposes. Dye previously applied to the artificial silk is rendered fast by the treatment.
