Abstract

30,110. Brace, G. R. Dec. 24. Cabin and deck Lights. - Flanges or webs b, d on the sash and on the fixed frame are adapted to form a tight joint when the light is closed, and to form baffles to exclude water when the light is partly opened for the purpose of admitting air. The sash is arranged to move bodily towards or away from the framing, slotted lugs e, or pairs of pivoted links, being provided for this purpose. In the case of a sash hinged at one side, the hinge pin, in order to allow for its movement towards and away from the frame, slides in a slotted bracket, or is carried by a screw engaging a traversing- nut. The flange or flanges of either the sash or the frame may be channelled or inclined to form one or more gutters to facilitate the escape of water, and one of the flanges at the top of the frame may be widened and inclined downwards to form a protecting eave or guard over the joint.
