Dec. 14, Hasp fastenings.-Relates to fastenings for travelling trunks &c. of the type in which the hasp is secured by turning down a lever mounted on the staple. The lever E has a nose e<1>, which, in fastening, bears against an inclined shoulder a<2> on the hasp A, and passes beyond the point of greatest pressure. The portion a<3> of the harp serves as a stop to the nose e when the lever is unfastened. When fastened, this lower edge a<3> of the opening in the hasp is forced against the staple c. The lever E may be secured by a padlock bow passing through the eye c<2>, or by a lock bolt.
