Nitrogen oxides. -In the process for producing nitrogen oxides by exploding a compressed combustible mixture in a bomb d, as described in Specification 13,989/07, the compressor c i s arranged t o pass air &c. through the bomb after each explosion to rinse out the waste gases and so increase the temperature of the next explosion. Idle working of the compressor in the prior process is also avoided by interposing one or more vessels g, into which the fresh mixture or its constituents are separately forced, and which serve for the supply of any number of bombs.
