Abstract

1,272,369. High pressure hydrogen. CHEVRON RESEARCH CO. 1 April, 1970 [1 April, 1969], No. 15490/70. Heading C1A. High pressure hydrogen is produced by reacting a hydrocarbon with steam to produce H 2 and CO 2 , centrifugally compressing at least a portion of the H 2 and CO 2 , the compressor being driven by a gas turbine using as motive power incompletely combusted air and supplying heat for the reaction of the hydrocarbon and steam by burning fuel with the incompletely combusted exhaust air from the gas turbine. Preferably, none of the CO 2 is separated from the H 2 before the centrifugal compression.
