Abstract

Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement and construction of; framework.-An aerial machine is provided with sustaining- surfaces comprising six pairs of Hargrave cells fitted to a V-shaped framework, three pairs being arranged at each side of the longitudinal axis of the machine. The frame of the machine comprises four V-shaped girders b<1> .... b<4> braced as shown in Fig. 3 and provided with squareshaped openings for the reception of the Hargrave cells a<1> .... a<6>. The side pairs of cells a<3>, a<4> are arranged above the level of the fore and aft cells. The frame is mounted on a beam B provided with road wheels. Propelling. - A screw propeller E is fitted at the front.of the machine, and side propellers F are placed at the middle of the machine. Steering.-A cross-shaped rudder G is placed at the rear for horizontal steering and is operated by cords connected to the tiller h. An elevating- plane H is arranged between the front pairs of cells a<1>, a'.
