Abstract

21,273. Heissenberger, J. Sept. 17. Stropping - apparatus.-A device for stropping razors is constructed with a frame A, in which are pivoted a semi-cyliodrical bar B and a blade-holder C, the bar B being provided with a crank-pin B<4>, and the blade-holder with a crank-pin C<3>, which pins engage in slotsin a lever G pivoted to the outside of the frame. The strop is passed over the bar B, and, while being reciprocated causes'the bar to rock the blade-holder and present the appropriate side of the razor-blade edge to the strop. To the base of the blade-holder is screwed a flat spring F, which bears on lugs A<5>, A<6> in the frame A, and tends to keep the blade-holder in a central position. Within the blade-holder is a device, Fig. 6, for retaining the blade in the holder, which consists of a base J, to which is pivoted, by links J<3>, J<4>, a spring-pressed bar J<5> which is provided with a thumb-screw J<2>, passing through a guidepiece J<1> in the frame A, by means of which the bar J<5> may be drawn towards the base J to allow the insertion of a blade, and then allowed to press up to the blade and hold it in position under the influence of the spring J<8>. The strop K, Fig. 3, passes over rollers E at the points where it is engaged by the blade edge and between rollers H<1> at a lower point of the frame ; between the rollers H<1>, and slidable laterally in the frame A, is a roller D which, on one side of the strop being pulled, thrusts the other side of the strop out of contact with the blade-edge, and obviates cuttiog of the strop. The holder C and the rcllers E may be set at an angle in the frame A.
