18,422. Steen, W. B. Aug. 13, 1908, [Convention date]. Shaft couplings.-A coupling of the class in which relative movement tends to tighten up the parts comprises sleeves 3, 4, surrounding the shafts 1, 2 respectively, and provided with tapered sockets 5, 9 which hold interengaging locking- devices 7, 11. The locking-device 7 carries a screw-thread or cam 8 engaging a corresponding surface in the enlarged end 12 of the piece 11 ; the end of the sleeve 4 is recessed to receive the part 12. The sleeve 3 has a portion extending over the end of the shaft 2 to facilitate alinement.
