Abstract

16,069. Prideaux, W. de C. July 9. Syringes.-Hypodermic syringes are so constructed that the liquid is forced out by spring pressure. Fig. 1 shows one form of the apparatus in which the frame B is secured to the body of the syringe. Another frame E is secured to the piston-rod D and is connected to the frame B by springs G. By pulling on the finger-hold H<1>, the springs are compressed and act to force the piston forwards when the hold H<1> is released. In a modification, only one centrally-arranged spring is used. A catch L is used to retain the hold H' in the outward position. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the piston-rod D passes through a tube B' and its end carries the finger-hold H<1>, which is connected also to the casing F and end plug K. The plug K compresses the spring G against the disk J<1>. To hold the spring compressed, the pawl M engages a rack on the casing F.
