Syringes.-An hypodermic syringe in which the plunger is operated by compressed air comprises a needle 4 connected to a barrel 2, and a plunger 8 connected to a piston 7 in a chamber 6 having inlet tubes 9, 10. A tube 11, having a valve 12 and connected to a reservoir of compressed air, is engaged in the tube 9 to retract the piston and the plunger, and in the perforated tube 10 to advance them. The tube 10 or the barrel 2 may be graduated; in the latter case a ring or other indicator, connected to the piston 7, moves over the barrel.
