Abstract
1284312 Syringes INSTITUT MERIEUX 14 July 1970 [16 July 1969] 34065/70 Heading A5R [Also in Division F1] A syringe comprises a body 6 containing liquid to be injected, a piston 8, a rack 10 engaging with a pawl 12 and having one end acted on by a deformable membrane 18, and a valve 3 actuated by a trigger 4 and alternatingly communicating membrane 18 with pressurised gas in a container 2, for effecting movement of piston 8, and with the atmosphere. The rack 10 reciprocates under the actions of the pressurised gas and a return spring 17, in a tube 11 connected at one end to piston 8 and at the other end to spring- urged pawl 12 which is arranged so that the reciprocation of rack 10 causes movement of piston 8 in one direction only to effect discharge of liquid from body 6 into a passage 7 having a hypodermic needle inserted therein. Each actuation of trigger 4 discharges a volume of liquid determined by the relative positions of a fixed member 15 and an adjustable member 16 against which a collar 14 on rack 10 alternatingly abuts.
