14,046. Barth, S. Aug. 24, 1908, [Convention date]. Locking nuts.-A piston nut is locked by means of a plate, which covers the nut and is secur d either to the piston or to the nut. Fig. 1 shows the latter form, in which the nut c, after screwing- up, is covered by a plate d, which is in two parts and is fitted between the shoulder g and the chamfered recess in the face of the piston. By using a wider plate, the fixing - screws may be arranged to take into the piston. Fig. 3 shows another form in which there is no shoulder on the piston-rod ; the plate d may then be all in one piece, and a chamfered edge is not necessary. The device prevents the access of hot liquids or gases to the screw threads and the accumulation of dirt in the screwing-up holes of the nut.
