Abstract
13,517. Sears, C. June 9. Folding seats; hammocks.-In a hammock chair or the like, the frame members A are extended to form arm-rests. The chair comprises pivoted frames A, B, C. Fig. 2 shows notches E in the side members of the frame A engaging one or more pins or projections D on the frame B. In a modification, the rear part of the frame A, which is pivoted preferably at about the middle of the frame B, is carried down to form the rear legs of the chair, and notches in the frame C engage, below the pivot, a stretcher &c. on the frame B. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a leg-rest, preferably comprising a frame F and a cross-bar G, may be so pivoted at f to the frame C as to form a hammock in the position shown in dotted lines, and as to be connected with the frame A by a pin and slot f <1> provided with a pivoted locking-plate f<2>. The stretcher &c. D may be retained in the notches E by a pivoted plate i notched to engage a pin i3, which may, however, be dispensed with. A canopy may be provided.
