9475. Howden, J., and Holloway, J. April 21. Nozzles for impulse turbines are constructed of parts which can be machined and polished separately, and which can be asembled or removed singly. Fig. 1 shows the stationary wheel A and the outer ring D, between which the nozzle partitions B are held. The outer ring bears against the casing E. The wheel A and the ring D are recessed and provided with undercut grooves a, d to receive the ends of distance-pieces C, C'. The partitions B are held by the distancepieces, but may also be held by the undercut grooves. In a modification, the distancepieces slide over dovetailed projections, or one of the parts A, D may be provided with a projection, and the other with a groove.
