8741. Coward, C. April 13. Hoods.-The framework of a folding hood for motor and other road vehicles is pivoted to swinging links 1, 14, pivoted to the vehicle, in such a way that the hood 15, in its folded position, does not project beyond the rear of the seat or seats which it covers, and access to a seat behind it is not hindered. The links 1 are pivoted to the main hood-supports 7, 8, and to brackets 4 on the vehicle which have projections to limit the forward movement of the links; and the links 14 are pivoted to one of the main supports 7, 8. The hood is held in its extended position by ordinary means, such as the jointed bars 16, 17, and may be provided with the ordinary front security straps. When two hoods are employed, they may meet so as to form a complete cover and be provided with overlapping wood or other strips 18, 19 to prevent rain from falling between them. According to the Provisional Specification, the links 1 may be replaced by guides in which the pivots of the main supports can slide towards the front of the vehicle.
