Hoods, opening tops, and weather-screens.-In a convertible open-to-closed automobile, a window hinged to each door is adapted to be folded against the door or to be turned to a position above the door to hold in place removable window sashes disposed between the body and the folding hood. The hood comprises rear and forward vertical bows D, E of T-section with the flanges 17 serving as abutments for the window-sashes, a forward horizontal bow F, and auxiliary bows P, M, O. Each lower end of the bow D is pivoted at a to a downwardly and forwardly extending link G pivoted to the body at a<2>, and is pivoted at a point b above a to a downwardly and rearwardly extending link H pivoted to the Lody at b<2>. This arrangement causes the bow D to move forwardly to the position shown in Fig. 10 when the hood is folded. The bows D, E are connected at each side by bars d of angle section pivoted at e to the bows and pivoted together at e<2>, the vertical flanges 16 of these bars forming abutments for the upper edges of the window sashes. similar bars d<2> are pivoted at e to the bow E and at e<3> to the angle-section front bow F, which is adapted to be fastened to the front posts of the vehicle. The bow M. is connected by links k to the bars d, and each lower end of the bow is fitted with an extension in the form of a spring strip M<2> with an aperture M<3>, Fig. 8, adapted to engage the pin of the pivot e<2>. The bow 0 is pivoted to links n pivoted to the bows E, F. The lower edges of the window sashes J, J<2> are grooved to engage ribs f on the body, and when the sashes are slid into position, their upper edges pass behind lugs 17', Fig. 5, depending from the bars d, d<2>, and are retained by springs g. The door windows K, K<2>, when turned up, bear against flanges 18, 18<1> secured to the sashes J, J<2> respectively.
