Abstract

2776. Smith, T. O. Feb. 5. [Addition to 1447/09.] Hydroplane vessels; sheathing.-A plating or sheathing is applied to the hulls of existing vessels so as to cause their external surfaces to assume the form described in the parent Specification. Plates a having holes a<1> and slots a<2> are shaped to the hulls and their rear edges are stepped; these plates are secured to the existing skin plating c by the means shown in Figs. 10, 11, and 12, with the result that pockets d are formed through which air is induced. The plates extend from a little above the water line downwards towards the keel.
