Abstract
20,595. Delahaye, & Co. Oct. 16, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Gas and like engines.-A centrifugal pump is primed by employing temporarily the suction of one or more of the cylinders of the motor which drives the pump. The invention is applicable to the explosion engines of a motor fire-engine. One cylinder a of the four-cylinder motor B, Fig. 1, can be disconnected from the supply pipe F and connected to a pipe g by means of a two-way plug cock G, Fig. 2. The pipe g leads to the pump A by way of a chamber I, Figs. 6, 7, and 8. When the pump is primed, a float K operates a pawl v, tbereby releasing a lever u secured to the plug L, which is consequently rotated under the influence of the spring r and seals the pipe g from the chamber I, at the same time connecting the former with the atmosphere by channels n, p A simpler device is described in which the rising float K directly closes the pipe g, which is fitted with an additional security valve.
