Abstract
16,503. Dawson, A. T., and Buckham, G. T. Aug. 5. Ordnance breech mechanism.-A stop A' is provided on the swinging- carrier A of a screw breech mechanism, and a stop B<1> which coacts therewith on the box-slide B. The stops allow the box-slide to be rotated from the normal position into that shown in Fig. 3, in which position the primer lock C may be withdrawn from the slide B. The stop B<1> is pivoted at b<3> and may be pressed aside; against the action of a spring-plunger b<1>, so that the box slide may be further rotated to disengage it from the interrupted fillets on the axial vent, when it is desired to dismount the firing- mechanism.
