Abstract
14,333. Johnson, O. W. July 6. Feeding sheets.-A device for fee ding sheets to printing, folding, ruling, &c. machines in correct register comprises a frame A mounted on pivots c on hinged brackets C and held horizontal by locking-pins c<2>, in which are mounted obliquely a series of rollers D. These rollers D are driven continuously by endless belts I from a large roll D' driven by bevel gear d<2>, g and chain gear g<2> from the machine. In front of the rollers D are two rollers E, E<1> parallel to the edge of the frame A, and driven by 'a Lelt passing around pulleys g<4>, e, e<1> As the sheet travels forwards over the rollers D, it is conveyed sideways against an adjustable side guide B supported by screws J, grooved heads on which engage plates b secured to the guide-plate B. In order to control the feed of the sheets into the machine, stops h<1>, depressed at intervals by a cam, are employed. Jockey pulleys are provided for tightening the several driving- belts. The frame A may be swung out of the way, when not in use, either on the horizontal pivots c or on one of the vertical pivots f, as required.
