10,336. Gay, C. W. May 12. Adjusting bearings.-In machines for imparting a cloth-like finish to paper, such as are described in Specifications No. 27,891, A.D. 1904, and No. 24,038, A.D. 1905, [Abridgment Class Cutting &c.], a set of at least three clothcovered rolls is mounted in bearing-blocks d, Fig. 2, sliding in a slot v in the machine frame Y, and wedges F are provided between the inclined edges of adjacent bearing-blocks d for varying the pressure between the rolls. The wedges are operated by means of set-screws f<2>, and a setscrew g bearing on the upper block d assists in regulating the pressure between the rolls. The ends of the cloth covers of the rollers are fixed in longitudinal recesses in the rollers, and the wedges f prevent the rollers from collapsing together when the recesses are in register.
