Abstract

2180. Shanks, J. Jan. 31. Ball and float valves.-Relates to ball cocks, the object being to increase the leverage of the lever so that a larger water inlet than usual may be employed. Means for preventing leakage of water along the valve plunger are also provided. The valve stem is cut away at B', and the pivot C' of the lever passes through the barrel part E<1> of the casing. The pivot is thus brought nearer to the axis of the valve-plunger C than usual, and the leverage of the ball lever is accordingly increased. To prevent leakage of water along the valve, the casing is formed with a partition E', which also serves to guide the valve.
