Regulating rate of flow in valves and cocks. -A screw-down valve, shown in Fig. 4, for use in acetylene generators for controlling the water supply, is operated by a cap 28. To limit the rotation of the valve, the valve cap 28 carries a spring 29 having a stop 30 at the end co-operating with a fixed cylindrical segment 27<a> engaging the stop 30 at each end of its normal travel. When necessary, the stop 30 is pressed inwards to clear the segment by a stud 31 bearing on the spring 29.
