Abstract

10,025. Farbwerke vorm. Meister, Lucius ,& Br³ning. May 30,1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. 4-Antipyryldintetlaylamine is obtained by heating antipyrylcyanodimethlamine with hydrochloric acid, or sodium antipyrylmetbylaminoacetate with sulphuric acid ; excess of caustic soda is added and is extracted with benzene. 4 - - Antipyrylcyanomethylamine; antipyrylaminoacetamide.-The first of these compounds is prepared by the action of formaldehyde, hydrocyanic acid, and 4-antipyrylamine. The second compound is obtained by treating 4-antipyrylcyanomethylamine with an acid, and a compound having the formula is found at the same time. Antipyrylcyanodimethylamine ; antipyrylmethylaminoacetalide: antipyrylmethylaminoacetic acid; methyleneantipyrylamine.-By reacting on 4-antipyrylamine with formaldehyde, methyleneantipyrylamine is produced. This product is dissolved in sodium bisulphite and treated with potassium cyanide to produce antipyrylcyanodimethylamine When boiled with water, or treated with concentrated hydrochloric acid, this product yields antipyrylaminoacetamide. Both antipyrylaminoacetamide and antipyrylcyanomethylamine when boiled with hydrochloric acid form a compound of the formula given above. When antipyrylcyanomethylamine is heated with methyl alcohol and methyl iodide, antipyrylcyanodjmethylamine is obtained. The solution is made alkaline with sodium carbonate and extracted with ether. Analogously, antipyrylmethylamiuoacetamide may be obtained from antipyrylaminoacetamide. The same compound is obtained by heating antipyryl. cyanodimethytamine with dilute hydrochloric acid. The compound having the formula given above yields antipyrylmethylaminoacetic acid when methylated.
