Acetylene and like lamps ; velocipede &c. lamps. - The water-feed in an acetylene lamp is regulated by an elastic, corrugated, metallic membrane 10 exposed to the pressure of the gas and connected with a water-valve 8 by a rod 9. This rod has a nut 12 depressed by a spring 14, and engages a milled nut 13 which determines the maximum opening of the valve. The water may fall into a perforated tube 24 in the carbide chamber, or may be distributed by a rose. In the latter case, a partition of wire-gauze may be placed over the carbide further to aid the even distribution of water.
