Abstract
1373. Park, C. A., and Mason, C. L. Jan. 18. Regulating; switches. - In a train - lighting system, an electro-magnetic switch is adapted to insert a resistance into the armature circuit of the dynamo when the current rises above a predetermined value. The armature d of the electro-magnet a is mounted upon pivoted arms c, and a screw k is provided to vary the distance between the armature and the poles of the magnet. A pin l on the armature d is placed under the brush f, which short-circuits the resistance r when in contact with the contact-block g. The brush f carries a carbon contact, which receives the spark when the brush f is raised and the resistance r inserted in the armature circuit of the dynamo.
