Abstract

21,816. Mackenzie, H. W., and Torrance, A. J. Oct. 3. Waffle-baking apparatus.-A baking-mould for biscuits &c. comprises a rotary drum A recessed on the periphery, and a travelling band B which embraces part of the drum and passes over the guidecylinders C and tension cylinders D, the drum A and cylinders C, D being driven with the same peripheral speed, so that the drum and band travel together without relative motion. The interior of the drum is heated by a gas burner F, and the exterior of the band by a burner G. Supporting- plates H may be interposed between the burner G and the band B, or the latter may be strengthened by transverse slats. The band may be recessed instead of the drum and the recess may be continuous or broken, or a series of transverse recesses may be formed. Interlocking-means may be provided between the band and drum to ensure that they both travel together with the same speed. The material is fed in at one side of the belt-embrace, and emerges at the other side in a baked condition.
