A glass cap D is placed over the neck and cork of the bottle, so that its lower end d2 abuts against the shoulder of the bottle, while its upper end d<1> stands clear of the cork. The cap is fixed in position by the cement. In opening the bottle, the upper end of the cap is broken to permit the withdrawal of the cork.
