Abstract
17,539. Haunz, C., and A. B. P. Accumulator Co. Aug. 3. Wood, treating for preserving.-Wooden separators for accumulators are prepared by treating wooden plates at a raised temperature and pressure with a solution of caustic alkali ; for example, the plates are heated with caustic soda in an autoclave for six to eight hours at a pressure of 20 lb. above atmospheric pressure. The plates are then washed and dipped in dilute sulphuric acid. If they are not required for immediate use, they are preferably kept moist or immersed in water or dilute sulphuric acid.
