Abstract

25,273. Tudor Accumulator Co., [Accumulatoren Fabrik Akt.-Ges.]. Nov. 2. Wood, treating with liquids; impregnating- compositions.-Separators for use in galvanic batteries, which have been treated chemically to remove injurious components, are impregnated with glycerine to enable them to be dried without warping; or wood to be made into separators may be so treated. A ten-per-cent solution of glycerine may be used. The preliminary chemical treatment may comprise immersion in dilute sulphuric acid or caustic potash, followed by prolonged washing, the time and strength of the solution varying according to the temperature. The wood may be bass, birch, cherry, white pine, poplar, or Oregon pine. Before use, the separators are soaked in water or dilute acid.
