A spurwheel b on the driving-shaft gears with a pinion d carried by a brake pulley e, which also forms a casing for the mechanism. The pinion d gears with a toothed wheel c, clasped by a band attached to a spring, weight, or other means i for storing energy. When the pulley e is arrested by the brake, the pinion d rotates the wheel c, and so stretches the spring i. At starting, the pulley e is released, and the spring rotates the wheels c, e, b together.
